The biggest tournament for Rugby fans is about to start and this year there’s a fantastic venue – Japan. This is the first time the event has been held in Asia and it’s hoped that the tournament will continue to increase the sports popularity in this region.
The tournament’s holders are the three time world champions New Zealand and they will defend their crown against 19 other nations. All of these countries have qualified and there will be a total of 48 matches before we discover who’s this year’s champions. There is stiff competition for the event this year with Two times winner Australia and South Africa among the favourites. Most of the UK home nations consider themselves with chances too especially England and Wales. At the very least all hope to make it thourgh to the knockout stages.
Japan are hoping to progress to the knockout stages with most considering them unlucky not to in the last competition in 2015. This also included a surprise defeat of the Springboks so they should definitely not be ruled out completely especially with the home advantage. It’s all looking to be a great event and the action starts on Friday September 20th with Russia taking on Japan. The final will be six weeks later on November 2nd, when we’ll find out who is to be crowned 2019 champions.
