Being and eco tourist and a wine lover at the same time isn’t exactly easy is it?
I mean, as much as I love the world of wine, it isn’t exactly the most environmentally friendly business on the planet is it? Vines use plenty of water and it isn’t exactly like the land is being used to its best and highest use, since vines stay in the ground year around taking all the available resources.
Anyway, I received an eco friendly wine gift basket this Christmas which made me shake my head. I mean, how eco friendly can a gift basket really be if it is shipped thousands of miles, while each product inside the gift basket has probably been shipped multiple times? Isn’t it better to visit these far away wine regions in person, since you can actually do some good and perform some carbon off set work once you’re home?
